Watch out for scam artists trying to take advantage of people with hyperhidrosis! Image courtesy of Ninja M., http://www.flickr.com/photos/a_ninjamonkey/ |
A reader earlier commented negatively about the International Hyperhidrosis Society, alleging that the organization has been putting out false information. I have no personal connection with this organization, and no reason to profit from their success. I do think that they offer valuable resources and that teenagers should visit the Teen Sweat 101 website. Surgery is recommended only after all other treatments have failed. To be fair, I do think the International Hyperhidrosis Society needs to push doctors and medical insurance companies to make iontophoresis more widely available. (Many doctors offer only Botox treatment because it is more profitable.)
I really don't have much time to blog these days, and I'm sorry for the delay in responding to non-shysters who have reached out to me.

Tiara,
I am also a blogger for Hyperhidrosis. I was just on a HH chat forum talking about this very subject. I will be writing an article shortly about the bottom-feeders who try to give people like us false hope AND take their money. For the record, I had ETS but I do believe in telling people what their very real risks are. My site is HyperhidrosisAndMe.com-- but you don't need to post this; I do often post comments to get traffic, but this particular subject hits a nerve and I just wanted to respond to you.
Thanks Charmaine. Your website, http://www.hyperhidrosisandme.com/, is great! I've only begun to look at it, but I am very impressed and moved.
I have no problem with bloggers posting comments to get traffic--it is the people peddling shoddy products or promoting surgery as a first resort who bother me. I am not against surgery, and I'm glad it worked for you -- but there are, as you said, very real risks. My HH is moderate (or maybe even mild now because of my therapy, nutrition and stress reduction practices) so I'm not sure if surgery is worth the risk for me.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Tiara! Please feel free to also post a comment on my site as well if you would like. We are all in this together-- at least we should be! So glad your Hyperhidrosis has improved. If you feel your regimen could benefit my visitors, you are welcome to do a guest post about it. Let me know...
Blessings,
Charmaine
PS Glad to see you back posting; didn't you take a little time off?
